What we do …
-
Why
Artworks Art Center helps address the social, emotional, and physical health and well-being of our youth and community through the ARTS.
We believe that all youth should have access to the ARTS to develop creativity and critical thinking.
We believe that the ARTS can provide a path through difficulty and trauma.
We believe that the ARTS are a pathway for self expression and authentic living.
Artworks Art Center’s programs empower our rural and growing communities, especially our youth, so that we might lead more purposeful lives.
-
What
Research shows that engaging in the ARTS reduces anxiety and stress, supports healthier practices for living and enables pathways for a more purposeful life. The ARTS address a multiple intelligences approach to learning, expanding critical thinking skills, succeeding through failure, collaborating with others and so much more.
Artworks Art Center can design and provide a series of ARTS based experiences that serve specific community needs, working with our Teaching Artists to deliver those programs.
-
How
Through ARTS based and pedagogically sound practices, Artworks Art Center provides a variety of ARTS programs for our communities. This happens through partnership with organizations, businesses, Cities, individuals, schools, hospitals and other entities.
Our programs are based in arts learning strategies (such as project and inquiry based learning, and Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB)) which can support and help reach underlying goals. For example, by combining these strategies with goals of improving social - emotional learning, new pathways are opened for participants, as a different environment for learning is created.
Studio Habits of Mind, part of a TAB approach, help us explore and understand our world in a different way!
By learning about your needs and goals, we can help build momentum toward growth in those areas.
